What skills and experience we're looking for
Necessary Experience
• Good standard of Education (Level 3) together with good numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE English and Maths or equivalent).
• At least 2 years’ experience of working closely with SEND.
• Good ability to use technology (computer, email, photocopier etc.)
• Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security and confidentiality.
• Ability to relate well with children and communicate diplomatically and tactfully with adults (e.g. parents)
• Must be motivated and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Further details about the role
The School requires a Teaching Assistant for an immediate start to support a number of SEND students. This role is suitable for someone who wishes to pursue a career in teaching and wishes to gain further experience in the workplace or someone who enjoys enabling students to learn and wants to play an integral role in supporting teaching and learning in a school thereby raising the standard of achievement for all students.
Candidates must be excellent communicators, motivated, able to work independently and have good ICT skills. You will be liaising with teachers regarding planning and differentiation of work, support the provision plans of students with EHCP's and in particular those with High Needs Funding. At least 2 years' experience of working closely with SEND students is required.

BCAT is a small, but highly ambitious Academy Trust consisting of 3 secondary schools in Kent, Barton Court Grammar School, The Charles Dickens School and the new free school, Barton Manor School. Barton Manor School, is part of Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT), which opened in September 2022 to 150 Year 7 students. The School is designed to be an 11-18 years, co-educational, non-selective school with 5 forms of entry and will grow each year with a new intake into Year 7. The school is planned as a centre of excellence for vocational subjects at KS4 and KS5 along with a joint Sixth Form provision with Barton Court Grammar School offering academic qualifications at Post-16.
