Purpose:

Charlton Wood Primary Academy are looking to appoint two Teaching Assistants to work across the school in Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. The role offered will be subject to the candidate’s experience and qualifications. The role will include a mixture of class-based activities and small group intervention, including 1:1 work. The successful applicants will deliver specific interventions and an individualised curriculum to SEND pupils in line with their needs or EHCPs, working under the direction of the class teacher, SENCO and external agencies.

Duties (further details in the attached application pack):

  • Provide tailored learning support to pupils, particularly those with special educational needs or challenging behaviour, to help them achieve progress targets.
  • Assist in the development, monitoring and review of individual learning plans under the guidance of teaching staff and the SENCo.
  • Lead small group activities, interventions and classroom tasks to reinforce learning and promote engagement.
  • Offer pastoral care, empathetic listening, and positive behaviour feedback to support pupils’ emotional and social development.
  • Support assessment processes by maintaining accurate records and sharing information with teachers.
  • Help create and maintain an effective learning environment, including organising resources and supporting classroom technology.
  • Attend to pupils’ personal, social and hygiene needs, including intimate or medical care where appropriate and trained.
  • Uphold school policies on safeguarding, behaviour and health & safety, acting as a positive role model in all aspects of professional conduct.

Fluency Duty

This role has been identified as falling within the definition of requiring fluency in spoken English. You will be required to speak English with confidence and be able to conduct a conversation and answer questions for extended periods of time.
