This is more than a job – this is your chance to build something exceptional.
We are proud to be launching a brand-new Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) at Lime Wood Primary School from October 2025 – and we are seeking an ambitious, passionate and skilled Teaching SENDCo to lead this exciting journey.
The provision will support 12–15 pupils with EHCPs, whose primary needs are Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). Children may not yet have an ASD diagnosis but will be on the diagnostic pathway.
Our vision is to offer early, expert support in a nurturing, inclusive setting within the heart of a thriving mainstream school.
This is a rare opportunity to be the founding SENDCo of a newly created provision – shaping its development from day one and directly impacting the lives of neurodiverse children and their families.
About the Role
As our SRP opens, you will take on a dual role as both classroom teacher and SENDCo for the provision, with dedicated leadership time and close support from the Headteacher (who also leads on Inclusion across the Trust). Over time, and subject to budget growth, the role will evolve into a non-class-based, school-wide SENDCo post. We hope this will happen within 12 months, though timescales may vary.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading the setup, design, and day-to-day operation of the SRP.
- Teaching a small group of children using a highly personalised, needs-led curriculum.
- Embedding inclusive practice and Universal Design for Learning.
- Coordinating EHCP provision and ensuring statutory compliance.
- Supporting children to transition between the SRP and mainstream settings as appropriate.
- Working closely with parents, external agencies, and colleagues to provide a wraparound model of care.
- Developing and modelling specialist approaches that support our wider Inclusion Strategy.
About the Provision
The SRP has been developed in close collaboration with Bexley Local Authority and supports the aims of the Bexley Local Offer – expanding local specialist capacity and reducing the need for out-of-borough placements.
The provision will:
- Initially support EYFS to KS1 learners.
- Provide structured opportunities for mainstream integration where appropriate.
- Be staffed by a small, expert team led by you.
- Align with Lime Wood’s vision to “find the champion in everyone."
- Be embedded in the Trust’s wider strategy for early intervention, inclusive excellence, and celebrating neurodiversity.
This is not a standalone unit – it is a central part of our school’s culture and commitment to all children.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for a practitioner who is not only experienced in SEND, but truly committed to inclusion, early intervention and innovation.
You will need to demonstrate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- NASENCo Award.
- Strong classroom practice, especially for children with ASD and/or SLCN.
- Vision, drive and initiative to establish new systems and approaches.
- Confidence in multi-agency working and parent partnership.
- Resilience, warmth, and the ability to lead others with clarity and compassion.
Why Join Woodland Academy Trust?
- Be part of a high-performing, values-driven Trust recognised for SEND excellence across Bexley and Kent.
- Work alongside an experienced Headteacher and Inclusion Lead.
- Access excellent professional development, including pathways into wider Trust SEND leadership.
- Help shape a pioneering provision that will have a lasting legacy for our community.
Commitment to safeguarding
Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff, volunteers and trustees to share this commitment.
Our recruitment process follows the keeping children safe in education guidance.
Offers of employment may be subject to the following checks (where relevant):
