Technology Assistant required for the 2026-2027 academic year job summary

An outstanding designer, maker and technician is required to support our Technology curriculum which comprises a STEM-based foundation course for boys in their first three years at the School, GCSE Design and Technology and A-level Product Design. The successful applicant will work with our talented students and teaching team as part of teaching, planning and facilitating on outstanding Technical and Design Education.

Founded in 1573, Queen Elizabeth's is one of the country’s leading selective schools for boys aged 11 to 18. Six consecutive "outstandingly successful" OFSTED reports indicate the firm foundations of Queen Elizabeth's exceptional academic and extra-curricular achievements.

This post would be ideally suited to someone looking for a sandwich placement or a recent graduate from a Product Design degree or similar. It would provide excellent experience for someone who may be considering a career in teaching at some point in the future. It also provides ample opportunity for development of soft skills in presenting, teaching and learning. Opportunities for professional development also are abundant, where past placement students have gained accreditation in Solidworks SCWA, CSWP, 3D printing, laser cutting and D&T Association Machine certification on the Bandsaw, Table saw, Arc Welding, Centre lathe and many more.

An interest in robotics and programming will be an advantage, as will be enthusiasm to support the department’s extensive enrichment programme, which involves commitment from pupils and staff beyond the school day., including evenings and weekends.
