About the role

Working closely with teaching staff, you will play a key role in supporting Food Technology lessons by preparing ingredients, setting up equipment, and helping to maintain a safe and engaging learning environment. You will ensure that lessons run smoothly behind the scenes so that students can fully participate in practical activities.

What you’ll be doing

  • Preparing ingredients and equipment for lessons

  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised kitchen environment

  • Supporting students in practical activities under teacher guidance

  • Monitoring and managing stock and supplies

  • Carrying out basic maintenance and safety checks on equipment

  • Providing general administrative and classroom support

  • Supporting the supervision of pupils when required

  • Promoting high standards of health, safety, and behaviour

Who we’re looking for

We welcome applications from a wide range of backgrounds and don’t expect candidates to have worked in a school before. This role would suit someone with experience in catering, hospitality, food preparation, or any hands-on environment involving practical tasks. You will be confident using kitchen equipment, well organised, and able to manage your time effectively in a busy setting. Strong communication skills and a positive, team-focused approach are important, along with the ability to build professional relationships with students and staff. You should be reliable, flexible, and able to remain calm under pressure, with a clear understanding of the importance of safeguarding and supporting young people. Flexible working arrangements may be available and can be discussed to suit individual needs.

Please note that we operate a probationary period of 6 months across all jobs in the Trust (see attached policy for further details). You will receive a comprehensive induction to support you to successfully pass your probation
