What skills and experience we're looking for
The governors at Westways Primary are looking to appoint a dedicated, inspirational and committed individual to the post of temporary Deputy Headteacher to cover maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, innovative and talented school leader who is looking for experience of a Deputy Headteacher position in a large primary school.
We are looking for someone who:
Is an exceptional leader who is passionate about education and the difference it makes to children’s lives
Puts the safety and wellbeing of children at the heart of all they do
Has initiative, ambitious drive, integrity and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Is highly organised and has high expectations of themselves and others, and is able to manage multiple tasks in a large busy school environment
Will work closely with the headteacher and all stakeholders to further enhance the vision and priorities of the school by developing strategic plans to raise the quality of education for all pupils
Is confident to deputise for the Headteacher in their absence
Will join the school’s safeguarding team as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
Is a forward thinking practitioner with a key interest in innovation and research to drive teaching and learning forward for all pupils
Has experience of leading initiatives that have had a positive impact on pupil progress and attainment and have raised standards
Will lead English, including Early Reading, across the school
Is a team player who is committed to promoting our vision and values and working collaboratively with staff, parents/carers, governors and the broader community
Support the development of all colleagues through high quality professional development, including Early Career Teachers
Has a sense of humour, combined with energy and enthusiasm

This contract is for a fixed term commencing on 2nd June 2025 and continuing until the post holder returns to work after her period of maternity leave, at which time the contract will automatically expire unless otherwise agreed in writing.
