Temporary Teacher of Music job summary

Outwood Grange Academy is looking to appoint an ambitious and motivated Teacher to join our thriving Music Department.

We are looking for a passionate Musician and Teacher who believes in inclusivity, yet strives for high standards in all aspects of Music education and performance. We pride ourselves on engagement and building positive relationships. The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher who embodies these characteristics.

It is important that applicants understand the benefits and importance of musical engagement beyond the classroom. The successful candidate will be an excellent practicing musician who is committed to supporting music enrichments, concerts and creating opportunities for all of our students.

We are offering an exciting opportunity to enhance our already successful and motivated team. You will be joining two established Music Teachers and six Peripatetic Instrumental Teachers. As a department, we want to know what you can bring to the range of opportunities that we provide for students and are looking forward to the new and extended possibilities that this new appointment will bring to our students.

In addition to weekly KS3 Music lessons, our department delivers Eduqas GCSE Music, Eduqas A Level Music, NCFE Level 2 Music Technology and are introducing Btec Level 3 Sound Engineering in September. The department has grown significantly over the past three years with nearly 100 students taking Music qualifications and over 250 students engaged in Instrumental Lessons. The Music Department sits within the Performing Arts Faculty and this extended team collaborates throughout the year in performance and events.

At Outwood Grange Academy, our Music facilities are second to none and we pride ourselves on making best use of all that we have. The department briefly consists of two large KS3 Music Classrooms, each with attached practice rooms. ICT facilities consist of a large Apple Mac suite, as well as a smaller Post 16 Mac suite. We also have a full, professional standard recording studio, 300 seat Auditorium and bespoke peripatetic teaching rooms.

Outwood Grange Academy is an Academy of Excellence and a very high performing academy nationally. This is a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic, driven professionals to join our Family of Schools. An excellent knowledge and understanding of the subject is essential. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘students first’.

The Outwood Grange Family of Schools offers:
• The opportunity to work and progress across the Family of Schools.
