Therapy Assistant job summary

Crowdys Hill School is a dynamic and expanding special school for students in Swindon, Wiltshire and the surrounding areas, with moderate learning difficulties and complex needs. We have a new and unique opportunity for a passionate Therapy Assistant to join our supportive and dynamic therapy team based in an SEN school in Swindon.We can offer opportunities to work with students from the age of 4 to 19 across the curriculum, within a range of learning environments including our on-site farm, sensory rooms and supporting functional skills.

Our team includes

  • four speech and language therapists,
  • a specialist teacher
  • two speech and language therapy assistants..

Crowdys Hill School can support you to develop your skills working with complex needs, autism and associated SLCN.

You will have opportunities to manage an identified caseload and implement a range of OT and sensory strategies, under supervision.

This will include

  • 1:1 and group sessions
  • interpreting reports and producing and maintaining visual supports for sensory diets

You will model the use of strategies in class and model links between sensory needs and communication.

Part of your role will include managing our sensory rooms and therapy/breakout rooms, conducting audits of equipment and visuals.

You will also be responsible for editing AAC devices and making learning activities e.g. talking books, Colourful Semantics, and Clicker 8.

You will have the opportunity to liaise with a variety of other professionals, with lots of scope for CPD. This is a new role that will evolve over time and if successful could lead to a permanent position.
