About the Role:
We are excited to offer aspiring teachers a fantastic opportunity to join GLF’s Trainee Teacher Programme in partnership with Inspiring Future Teachers. As part of our GLF Schools Teacher Training Hub, you’ll receive exceptional training, support, and a choice of training routes, from our employment-based routes, where your salary and training fees are funded, to our fee-funded routes, where you could pay for trainee fees by a student loan, or potentially receive a tax-free training bursary.
As a trainee at GLF, you'll be part of a supportive team where your professional development, well-being, and workload will be prioritised. We believe in nurturing talent at GLF and are committed to helping you grow into a confident, capable educator who could have a long and rewarding career with GLF. You'll gain hands-on experience in various school settings that work for you, including GLF’s nurseries and primary and secondary schools within our Trust.
Qualifications:
To be eligible for this teacher training route, you will have the following qualifications:
- A degree awarded by a UK higher education provider or a recognised equivalent qualification. (For Secondary courses, at least 50% of your degree will be in the subject you wish to teach.)
- Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths, and (Science for Primary routes only)
- Demonstrate you hold the right to work and study in the UK and have been a resident in the UK/EEA for the last three years.
- A Degree 2:2 or above (may accept a 3rd class degree in particular circumstances.)
- For some employment-based training routes, some school experience will be required, alongside a school that offers an employment contract.
- Stage 2 of the application process is that you will need to complete a DfE application form to train to teach and pass all criteria of the Initial Teacher Training provider.
💷 Funding & Training Route Options
We offer both salaried and fee-funded routes in our schools:
🔹 Salaried Route (Employment-Based) 10-month course
- You are employed full-time (32.5 hrs/week) on the Unqualified Teacher Pay Scale
- The school pays tuition fees for QTS
- Option to add PGCE for £500 (trainee-funded)
- For this route, you will need some classroom- based experience of teaching in a school
- You would need a school to employ you as a salaried trainee teacher
🔹 Postgraduate Teacher Apprentice Route (Employment-Based) 10-month course
- You are employed full-time (32.5 hrs/week) on the Unqualified Teacher Pay Scale
- The training fees are paid by your employer's training levy pot
- For this route, you will need some classroom- based experience in a school.
- You would need a school to employ you as an apprentice.
🔹 Fee-Funded Route
Unpaid training placement, but eligible for:
- Tuition Fee Loan (up to full cost)
- Maintenance Loan (up to ~£13,000)
- Tax-free DfE bursaries (for shortage secondary subjects) paid directly to the trainee to of set tuition fees.
Training fee costs:
- £9,790 (QTS + PGCE)
- £9,290 (QTS only)- additional cost for PGCE
