Trust Director of English (Secondary) job summary

This is an exciting time for the secondary schools in the St Thomas Catholic Academies Trust. We have come together to form a family of schools and together, school leaders and Trust leaders have determined the right next step is to work closely together in key areas of the curriculum. We are seeking to appoint to three new Director of Learning roles from September 2025 to drive this work through expert leadership. Our first Directors of Learning will be in RE, English, Maths and Science, with each Director responsible for creating a curriculum that is a national beacon for excellence, supporting teaching that is simply great, and inspiring the growth of other leaders through example. We are determined that through the work of this leader, our schools will all follow the very best practice at all times and that students we serve will have the best opportunity and experience through their education.

As part of a team of Directors of Learning you will not be alone. You will work in partnership with other experts to drive Trust-wide developments. Through that work you will grow towards whole school and other senior Trust leadership roles. Together, you will achieve something remarkable for the students and staff we serve.

Our schools are located in Luton, Aylesbury, High Wycombe and Slough. The role requires the post holder to have an in person presence at each school one day per week and it is essential therefore that the successful applicant is able to drive.
