What skills and experience we're looking for

Since 2022, the Trust Headteacher role has been central to our strategy for delivering strong leadership and driving school improvement across LAAT.

We are now seeking an exceptional Trust Headteacher to support St Wulfram’s for up to an initial two‑year period whilst a substantive Headteacher is secured for the school. With significant investment in the school’s environment and exciting development underway—including the creation of two new SEND Hubs—we need an inspirational leader who can raise standards, grow pupil numbers, and lead the school confidently into its next chapter, supported by a secure central Trust contract.

After this deployment and once the appointment of a long term Headteacher is secured for St. Wulfram’s, the Trust Headteacher will work flexibly across our schools, providing leadership where it is most needed—whether supporting vacancies, leading focused improvement work, welcoming new schools into the Trust, or offering short‑term cover. You will be a key member of our highly effective Education Team, working alongside experienced, values‑driven colleagues.

At LAAT, we believe childhood should be joyful, curious, and full of discovery. Alongside this, we are committed to improving academic outcomes and are seeking a leader who shares our belief in the potential of every child, whatever their starting point.

The Role of Headteacher at St Wulfram’s National Church of England Primary School

Are you looking for a school that will allow you to leave a lasting legacy?

Building on the success of the school since joining the Trust (Ofsted, June 2025) and after a period of turbulence which has now passed, we are looking to appoint a dynamic and skilled Headteacher, starting in September2026 to continue the strong developments that have taken place. In this role, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, management, and daily operations of the school, working closely with the Trust central team to continue our improvement journey. We are looking for a Headteacher who will rapidly improve the numbers on roll and return the school to being a school of choice within Grantham.

At St Wulfram’s, we are extremely proud of our ambitious curriculum (Ofsted June 2025) which is in place for all subjects. We are looking for a Headteacher who has specific expertise in curriculum, as we seek to strengthen the implementation and develop subject specific pedagogies.

We believe that childhood should be happy, investigative and enquiring, encouraging a thirst for knowledge. Alongside this, we are striving to simultaneously improve our academic outcomes and are looking for a Headteacher who passionately believes in the innate potential of every child to achieve this, no matter their vulnerability or start in life.

You will join a very ambitious and forward-thinking Trust and we are seeking outstanding candidates who can provide vision, strong leadership and effective support to ensure all pupils and staff meet their potential.

Supporting teaching and learning is a crucial part of this role and there will be an expectation that the HT can model excellent teaching and learning.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Nestled in the shadows of St. Wulfram’s Church, this vibrant and diverse school has a rich history of providing strong church school education since 1859. Having historically been established as a Junior school, the school has recently undergone a significant change to be able to re-establish itself as a primary school and for the first time in its history has places available for all year groups across the primary age phase.
