Trust HR Manager job summary

Working Pattern: 22.5 hours a week, over 3 days, must include a Wednesday (working pattern to be discussed at interview). Term time, plus 2 weeks in the holidays.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated HR Manager to work alongside our current HR Manager, supporting the Trust HRD. Our Trust seeks to appoint an individual who has extensive experience in an educational setting or equivalent experience. The candidate should have strong communication skills, have an eye for detail and possess strong organisational skills. We are a Multi-Academy Trust of 15 Primary Schools and one Special School, all based in the Epping Forest district. Along with our SCITT (School-Centred Initial Teacher Training), Wellbeing Service and SEMH Provisions, we are a leading educational organisation in Epping Forest. Formed in 2018, we are committed to collaborative working to ensure the best possible outcomes for our children and school communities.

The main purposes of the role are:

  • To provide advice & support for the resolution of HR employee relation issues across all Trust schools.

  • To assist Trust schools with the recruitment process, ensuring consistency across the Trust schools

  • To provide and assist with the pre-employment process in line with safer recruitment guidelines.

  • To maintain the Trust Single Central Record and ensure consistency is maintained across the trust.

  • To support trust leaders with casework, e.g Sickness Absence, Disciplinary and Grievance investigations.

  • To assist with the review of Trust Policies and Procedures

  • To assist in the smooth running of the HR Office.


    The successful candidate will need to:

    • Have strong organisational skills and work to deadlines.

    • Be able to maintain confidentiality and remain impartial.

    • Have a flexible approach to working hours, to meet the needs of the service.

    • Be able to occasionally work remotely.

    • Be sympathetic to the needs of others.

    • Have an openness to learning and change.

    Good oral, written and technology skills, knowledge of the Google Workspace is desirable.

    The role will be based centrally; however, occasional travelling between academies within the Trust will be required.
