About the role

With English being such a key component of academic outcomes and literacy underpinning performance across all subject area, EQUA Mead now wishes to further raise standards by appointing a high-quality practitioner with a proven track record of outstanding outcomes.

The EQUA Mead Trust Lead: English and Literacy, will work as part of the Trust Central Team, but primarily be based within each secondary school. They will be committed to improving the life chances of the children and young people we educate and ensure we give Every Child Every Chance. As a growing Trust, currently educating almost 6000 children and young people across 18 different schools (pre-school, primary, secondary and sixth form) we are immensely proud of our staff and endeavour to be an education employer of choice. This is an exciting time for EQUA Mead as we continue to grow the number of schools and children and young people we support.

This role is ideal for a practitioner who is ambitious and keen to advance their career in a senior leadership role but has a strong commitment to and wishes to specialise in English and Literacy. The successful candidate will be afforded a genuine leadership role, with considerable freedoms to innovate and design systems.

As Trust Lead: English and Literacy, you will be an integral part of the Trust Team responsible for ensuring high standards, high expectations and high attainment of English and Literacy in each secondary school. We are looking for an astute, inspirational individual who has a track record of raising standard in English and Literacy at Secondary level. You will be passionate about teaching and learning and have experience of being a Head of Department, you will have an over whelming desire to see excellent progress for all the young people in our care and have the leadership experience to develop high quality English practice across more than one school. You will foster our culture of achievement and improvement, with a focus on wellbeing and creativity. You will be an excellent practitioner and have a thirst for the latest educational research that impacts positively on young people. You will be responsible to Paul Skipp, CEO, and will demonstrate a genuine commitment to our Equality and Diversity. We are looking for a candidate with strong people skills and a dynamic ‘can-do’ attitude who is keen to make a positive difference to lives’ of our young people.

This role will involve contact with children and the post holder will be engaged in regulated activity relevant to children and will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check before appointment is confirmed. We will only submit a DBS application to the relevant disclosure service when a position is accepted.
