Danes Educational Trust is seeking to appoint a Trust Learning Lead (TLL) for Mathematics. This role is to work alongside our existing Head of Faculty in Mathematics, to provide leadership for the further development of Teaching & Learning as well as specific responsibility for Key Stage 4, ensuring that it is managed to meet the aims and objectives of the school. The Trust Learning Lead will also work collaboratively with an existing Trust Learning lead based at another school to provide coaching and guidance to improve maths provision across the Danes Educational Trust.

We would like you to have:

Essentials

  • Be an outstanding classroom practitioner (with QTS) with at least 5 years’ experience and a first class knowledge in particular field(s)
  • Have at least a two year record of outstanding student outcomes

Trust Learning Lead

  • School improvement and support work, including bespoke interventions, CPDL and coaching within Trust schools
  • Acting as a lead consultant and facilitator for the Trust within the discipline of Mathematics
  • Possible deployment to non Trust schools which have requested support
  • Professional mentoring and coaching of other teachers
  • Sharing and modelling good practice through demonstration lessons
  • Providing advice and guidance regarding best practice in terms of subject specific pedagogy that helps teachers to develop their expertise in planning, preparation and assessment irrespective of career stage
  • Helping teachers to evaluate the impact of their teaching on learners
  • Undertaking classroom observations in Trust schools to ensure improvements in teaching and learning and the dissemination of good practice
  • Helping teachers improve their teaching practice
  • Leading INSET at faculty, school and Trust level
  • Delivering CPD in school and across the Trust, including facilitation for nationally accredited courses, for example NPQs
  • Attending Trust-wide Research and Development groups at all levels / cross-phase which facilitate colleagues’ engagement in their own professional learning taking the lead in Mathematics
  • Providing accurate and up-to-date reports on the impact of commissioned, bespoke support to the Trust Directors of Education at pre-agreed intervals
  • Induction and mentoring of NQTs and those on School Direct, PGCE and apprenticeships
  • Other tasks beyond those outlined above may be determined by Trust and school priorities

KS4 Maths Co-ordinator

Leadership

  • Lead and line manage staff on matters pertaining to Key Stage 4.
  • Provide the Head of Faculty with relevant student performance information as part of the faculty’s self- evaluation cycle.
  • Contribute to quality assurance programmes within the faculty, such as lesson observations, learning walks, work scrutiny and student conversation.
  • In collaboration with the Head of Faculty, identify and implement strategies to address improvement needs.

Strategic Direction

  • Overview and evaluate performance at Key Stage 4 in discussion with the Head of Faculty and teaching staff and provide future targets based on such evaluation and discussion
  • Ensure short, medium and long term plans are established for the development and resourcing of Key Stage 4 which contribute to whole-school aims, policies and practices and identify realistic targets for the development of the department
  • Manage change effectively, deploying staff and resources to maximise curriculum outcomes
  • Implement policies and practices within Key Stage 4 which reflect whole school and faculty aims and objectives
  • Create a climate, which enables other staff to develop and maintain positive attitudes towards their subject and teaching it
  • Demonstrate both enthusiasm and high standards of teaching to members of the faculty and to students
