The Youth Engagement Schools Trust is looking for an experienced and visionary Maths specialist for a trust-wide leadership role that combines curriculum design, quality assurance, and strategic influence. As Trust Maths Lead, you will bring these values to life through your leadership of Maths across our family of schools.

This is a trust-wide leadership post, responsible for:

  • Designing and leading a high-quality, inclusive Maths curriculum across key stages.
  • Conducting deep dives, work scrutiny, and lesson visits in preparation for Ofsted inspections.
  • Delivering bespoke CPD and coaching to support excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Monitoring performance data and pupil outcomes to inform strategy and improvement.
  • Acting as a key figure in the new School Improvement Team, working to the trust’s Director of Education

We’re looking for a credible, passionate and reflective subject expert who can lead both strategically and operationally. You will:

  • Be an outstanding Maths teacher with a deep understanding of curriculum, assessment and pedagogy.
  • Have experience raising standards through quality assurance and middle or senior leadership.
  • Be confident in interpreting the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework and leading school readiness work.
  • Be highly skilled in CPD design, delivery and staff coaching.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Trust Maths Lead Job Summary

To lead the strategic development, delivery, and continual improvement of the Maths curriculum across The YES Trust. The postholder will ensure high-quality teaching, curriculum innovation, and compliance with national expectations, including deep engagement with the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework. They will also lead the delivery of CPD, monitor quality, and provide expert support to improve educational outcomes in Maths.

Key Responsibilities 1. Curriculum Leadership and Development

  • Lead the design and continual improvement of the Math’s curriculum from KS2 through to KS4 for YES Connected.
  • Facilitate curriculum mapping, moderation, and cross-trust alignment.
  • Lead deep dives into the Maths provision across the Trust in line with the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework.
  • Review lesson delivery, pupil work, and feedback to ensure consistency and excellence.
  • Support schools in preparing for Ofsted with evidence-based reviews and coaching.
  • Model exemplary Maths teaching and Team Teach where needed.
  • Promote evidence-informed pedagogical approaches aligned with the Trust’s teaching methodology.
  • Grow the trust’s capacity for specialist outstanding practitioners
  • Support in the teaching and/or delivery of online lessons for YES Connected.
  • Support in the teaching of Maths in trust schools as required.
  • Ensure assessment practices support pupil progress.
  • Design and deliver a CPD programme in Maths for Trust staff.
  • Lead INSET days, twilights, and ongoing coaching/mentoring.
  • Support ECTs and aspiring leaders with development opportunities.
  • Analyse data to identify trends and support schools in raising attainment.
  • Use data to inform Trust-wide Maths improvement planning.
  • Report regularly to the Director of Education on initiative impact.
  • Provide the Director of Education with summary reports for the schools’ Education Review Board meeting and attend as required.
  • Being jointly accountable for attainment in Maths in trust schools and YES Connected.
  • Develop and Lead on the Maths Curriculum Network group across the trust.
  • Work collaboratively with ECTs, Maths leads, SEND leads, and SLT.
  • Contribute to Trust-wide and school development planning.
  • Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
  • Be aware of and comply with all Trust policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos and aims of the Trust.
  • Appreciate and support the role of other professionals.
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings, training and learning activities as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • QTS and a degree in Maths or related subject
  • Experience in Maths teaching and curriculum leadership
  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted EIF and deep dive methodology
  • Skilled in CPD delivery and data analysis
  • Committed to inclusion and improving outcomes
  • Experience in MATs or alternative provision
  • Record of improving Math’s outcomes in SEMH contexts
  • Involvement in Ofsted preparation
  • Contribute to the overall ethos and aims of the Trust.
  • Demonstrate resilience in challenging contexts and inspire the same in others
  • Foster a culture of collaboration across schools and departments
  • Promote ambition and high expectations for all learners
