What skills and experience we're looking for

We have an exciting opportunity to join TEAL as a Trust Safeguarding Lead who will work as part of TEAL’s central team, supporting school improvement work across our schools. You will strategically lead the trust’s safeguarding provision, ensuring all processes and procedures are fit for purpose and compliant with safeguarding and child protection legislation.

The role will be based at our Trust Development Centre as part of our TEAL Senior Leadership Team, as well as sitting on the Senior Leadership Teams of one of our secondary schools (where you will be based for at least one day per week).

Starting in January 2026, the role is a permanent position for up to 37 hours per week on TEAL’s Leadership pay scale (L16 £75,049 to L21 £84,699, based on a full-time equivalent). What are we looking for?

We are looking for an individual who hasprevious experience in the leadership and management of safeguarding within a school setting.

Your knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Extensive and detailed knowledge of relevant legislation (including current DfE, Ofsted and Local Authority guidance on safeguarding)
  • An exceptional and proven track record of leading safeguarding in a school setting
  • Exemplary communication skills and experience in building successful partnerships and links with multiple stakeholders (including LAs, other schools and external agencies)
  • A high level of commitment to your own professional development, including recent DSL-related training

The Education Alliance Multi-Academy Trust was established in 2015 so that South Hunsley School and Sixth Form College could support the setting up of Hunsley Primary School, the East Riding’s first Free School. In February 2016, Malet Lambert School, an 11-16 school in Hull, joined the trust and the following year, Driffield School and Sixth Form joined as a sponsored academy. The Snaith School, an 11-16 school joined us in April 2019 and North Cave CE Primary School in November 2019. Howden Junior School joined us October 2022 followed by Wilberfoss CE Primary School in May 2023. Howden CE Infant School joined us in September 2023 followed by Naburn CE Primary School who joined on 1 October as a sponsored academy.

In addition to the ten schools, the trust also operates Yorkshire Wolds Teacher Training, the only Outstanding SCITT based in East Yorkshire, which is training a new generation of primary and secondary teachers in East Riding and Hull.
