Yorkshire Learning Trust is seeking an exceptional SEND Specialist to join our School Improvement Team. This is a high‑impact role for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND across a family of ambitious, inclusive schools.

Working under the direction of the Trust Head of Safeguarding & Inclusion, you will play a key role in strengthening inclusive practice, building staff expertise, and ensuring that every learner receives high‑quality, personalised support.

About the role

The Trust SEND Specialist will:

  • Strengthen inclusive practice across all Trust schools through expert guidance, targeted support and high‑quality professional development.

  • Raise achievement for learners with SEND by delivering specialist assessment, modelling effective strategies and building staff capacity.

  • Support schools to improve attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and learning outcomes for pupils with SEND.

  • Work closely with school leaders, SENCOs and staff to ensure consistently strong SEND provision.

  • Contribute to the strategic development of SEND policy and the effective implementation of the SEN Code of Practice.

  • Develop and deliver training for key groups across the Trust.

  • Provide guidance, coaching and additional capacity to SENCOs and school teams.

  • Provide cover for the leadership of our Targeted Mainstream Provisions when required.

About you

You will be an experienced SEND practitioner with:

  • Deep knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice and evidence‑based SEND practice.

  • A track record of improving outcomes for pupils with SEND.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with leaders and staff at all levels.

  • The confidence to model practice, deliver training and provide specialist advice.

  • A commitment to inclusion, equity and high expectations for every learner.
