What skills and experience we're looking for

Skills Required:

- Strategic Leadership & Planning

- Ability to lead the development and implementation of Trust-wide Post 16 curriculum and teacher development strategies.

- Capacity to define and evaluate outstanding Post 16 teaching and assessment practices.

- Curriculum Design & Assessment

- Expertise in curriculum and assessment development for Post 16 education.

- Ability to ensure intellectual coherence and progression in curricula.

- Teacher Development & Mentoring

- Ability to lead professional development for Post 16 teachers, including support for ITE (Initial Teacher Education) and Early Career Teachers.

- Experience in designing and implementing mentoring practices.

- Data Analysis & Quality Assurance

- Competence in evaluating the quality and impact of teaching and curriculum initiatives.

- Skilled in quality assurance systems and performance reporting.

- Communication & Collaboration

- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with principals, leaders, and external stakeholders.

- Able to maintain clear communication with executive leadership.

- Innovation & Initiative

- Capacity to launch and drive new initiatives and innovative practices in Post 16 provision.

- Ability to support classroom research and evidence-informed teaching strategies.

- Knowledge of Careers & Progression Pathways

- Understanding of Post 18 pathways (university, apprenticeship, employment).

- Ability to liaise with Careers Leads and support NEET prevention strategies.

- Safeguarding & Compliance

- Strong understanding of safeguarding policies and responsibilities.

- Knowledge of data protection and safer recruitment procedures.


Experience Required:

- Leadership Experience

- Experience of working at a senior leadership level in Post 16 education or across multiple school sites.

- Curriculum & Teaching Experience

- Proven track record of delivering and improving Post 16 curricula.

- Experience in raising standards in Post 16 teaching and learning.

- Cross-School/Trust Collaboration

- Experience working across multiple schools or within a Trust setting.

- Experience in identifying and sharing best practices across institutions.

- Professional Development Design

- Experience designing and implementing CPD programmes for teachers.

- Experience supporting staff from ITE through to leadership.

- Project and Change Management

- Experience leading school improvement or curriculum innovation projects.

- Ability to manage change across multiple teams or departments.

- Stakeholder Engagement

- Experience working with a range of stakeholders including local authorities, further education providers, and employers.
