About the role: Leigh Academy Blackheath are seeking to appoint a confident and enthusiastic Tutor of MFL to join our learning support team raising the attainment of students whose learning has been impacted by COVID-19. Our successful candidate will be helping students with additional needs in mainstream classes and ensuring that strategies are implemented to respond to the individual needs of students. The nature of the role is to work on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, with an assessment of progress at the end. Applicants need to be able to diagnose where students' weaknesses lie, remedy this and ensure that students’ learning is secure. Candidates need to be able to quickly develop a positive relationship with students, and be tenacious in the pursuit of progress.
Key responsibilities of this role include the following;
To support small groups of students designated by the class teacher or Director of Learning for MFL.
Supporting pupils with additional needs in mainstream classes, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
Establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.
To assist teachers to identify the learning needs of individual students.
To provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student progress with respect to identified units of work.
To keep an accurate record of group work: learning objective / teaching tasks /students / relevant assessment data.
To plan and deliver sessions following an outlined programme of study.
Supporting students with the retention of powerful knowledge and fundamental numeracy skills, such that they are able to achieve and enjoy the subject.
Supporting pupils in using basic ICT as directed.
This role is ideal for recent Graduates who are looking to embark on Teacher Training commencing September 2023. This role will provide you with first hand exposure to working in a school setting. You will be well supported with high-quality resources which you can adapt to meet the needs of students.
