The Candidate

Due to promotion of the current Vice Principal, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior leader to help shape the future of Granville Academy by leading on our Pastoral provision across the academy.

Within this role, you will have strategic leadership of behaviour and attitudes and personal development. In addition, you will work with an experienced team of leaders that have strategic responsibilities for safeguarding, attendance, transition, inclusion and student leadership.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the pastoral provision and team, ensuring the highest of standards of pastoral care and support.

Within the role you will oversee effective implementation of the strategy to ensure our high expectations are met by students and barriers to learning are addressed so that all students can achieve. You will support the programme of teachers’ and support staff professional development which includes effective coaching.

Within this quality assurance process, you will hold the strategic responsibility for ensuring all the children and young people in our care have the opportunity to fulfil their potential through achieving highly, regardless of their ability or background with a particular focus on the disadvantaged strategy to support good progress and attainment.

Stakeholder engagement is crucial to success in this role.

As the successful candidate, you will also have a clear vision and understanding of the leadership of an effective pastoral provision including structures, strategy, innovation and implementation.

Our successful candidate will:

  • Be a current Vice Principal or Assistant Principal with current whole school responsibilities and experience

  • Be experienced at successfully leading, managing, and developing a range of teams

  • Be an outstanding and inspirational teacher who brings their personality and style to the classroom whilst upholding the academy values ‘work hard, be kind, choose wisely’

  • Be committed to their own professional development

  • Play a leading and highly visible role in the day-to-day management of the academy ensuring both the academic and pastoral success of all students across all faculty areas.

  • Be accountable for specific areas of responsibility (as determined with the successful candidate)
