Essential

Qualified Teacher

Outstanding record in teaching and learning

An excellent practitioner with high expectations and is committed to achieving the best outcomes for all children

An excellent understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection

Successful in building relationships with children and parents, including children in specific sub-groups

Desirable

Experience as a teacher in EYFS or KS1, dealing with sensitive issues with children, parents and external agencies

Track record of successful interventions with children from specific sub-groups, e.g. SEN, Pupil Premium, G&T

Job description

Teaching & Learning

To fulfil the role of class teacher for 0.5, this is negotiable with the Principal.

Providing an example of ‘excellence’ as a leading classroom practitioner and inspiring and motivating other staff

Working with the Leadership Team and Principal to sustain high expectations and excellent practice in teaching and learning throughout the school

Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and standards of pupil’s achievement and use benchmarks and set targets for improvement

Leading & Managing Staff

Support the Principal in providing a clear direction for the development of the Academy

Contribute to management decisions on all aspects of policy, development and organisation by playing a significant role in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the Academy development plan

Support the Principal and staff in the review, implementation, development and monitoring of whole academy policies which promote the academy’s values, aims and objectives

Attend SLT meetings and report back to staff where necessary

Establish good relationships, encourage good working practices and support and lead teachers

Plan, organise and chair meetings as appropriate

Working with the Principal to lead, motivate, support, challenge and develop all staff to secure continual improvement including his/her own continual professional development

Support the aims and ethos of the academy

Attend and participate in open/parent/after school meetings

Uphold the academy behaviour code and uniform regulations

Participate in and lead relevant Professional Development opportunities

Maintain links with Governors, extended schools cluster, the wider Academy Trust, LA and neighbouring schools

Liaise with teaching assistants and outside agencies

To lead on key school improvement strategies as agreed within this rapidly improving school

To lead Teaching & Learning across the school

Effective Deployment of Staff & Resources

In consultation with, and by the direction of the Principal, deploy people and resources efficiently and effectively to meet specific objectives in line with the school’s plan and financial context i.e. cover supervision timetables, deployment of HLTA’s and supply staff and Teaching Assistant’s timetables and deployment

Accountability

Supporting the Principal and Governors in accounting for the efficiency and effectiveness of the school to all relevant stakeholders

Other Specific Duties

Deputise for the Principal in their absence

Take a major role in the day-to-day running of the school

Contribute to a positive ethos for learning

Provide an exciting, stimulating and creative curriculum

Promote the values and achievements of the school to the community

Manage the schools’ lunchtime arrangements along with other senior teachers

Assist with the appointment and induction of new staff and provide monitoring and support for NQT’s and students as necessary

Support the Principal and Governors in annual budget planning and monitoring

Undertake such reasonable activities as the Principal and Governors may, from time to time require

Any other duty reasonably commensurate with the post
