Vice Principal job summary

A pivotal role for a leader ready to shape change, elevate ambition and transform futures.

Oasis Academy Wintringham stands at a powerful moment of renewal. With our newly appointed Principal bringing fresh vision, unwavering optimism and a commitment to exceptional education in Grimsby, we are seeking a Vice Principal who is ready to join this new chapter; someone who sees possibility where others see challenge, who leads with both courage and compassion, and who believes wholeheartedly in the potential of every young person.

Wintringham is a school with roots deep in its community. Our students are spirited, resilient and eager for opportunity. Many face significant barriers, yet their determination and character shine through. We are looking for a leader who understands the strength within this context, who sees leadership here as purposeful work, capable of changing the trajectory of children, families and the surrounding community.

This is not just another leadership role. This is an opportunity to help shape the identity, culture and future of an academy on the brink of transformation. We are looking for someone with substantial experience and a proven track record in attendance and behaviour. Working in close partnership with the Principal, you will play a central role in building a school that places character, inclusion, aspiration and belonging at its heart. You will help to create a place where students feel safe, valued and academically stretched; where staff feel empowered and part of a shared mission; and where the wider community recognises the academy as a proud anchor of support, hope and opportunity.

Oasis Academy Wintringham benefits from the strength of the Oasis Community Learning family; a national network united by a deep moral purpose, ambitious professional development pathways and a culture that places people at the centre. You will be surrounded by colleagues who understand the complexities of leading in areas of disadvantage, and who will provide guidance, encouragement and partnership every step of the way.

About the Role

As Vice Principal, you will be a visible, influential and trusted presence across the academy, helping shape the rhythm, culture and expectations of daily school life. You will work together with the Principal and the leadership team to deliver sustained improvement and build a community where every child thrives.

Key areas of leadership include:

  • Developing and delivering the academy’s strategic vision with creativity, ambition and clarity.
  • Driving excellence in teaching, learning and curriculum innovation, ensuring our classrooms are vibrant, inclusive and aspirational.
  • Leading safeguarding as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring all pupils feel safe, supported and protected.
  • Leading behaviour, attendance and inclusion so that every pupil is supported to thrive, participate fully and meet high expectations.
  • Coaching, inspiring and empowering colleagues so they grow in confidence, skill and purpose.
  • Using insight, data and professional judgement to accelerate progress and secure strong outcomes.
  • Strengthening relationships with families, community partners and the Oasis Hub to widen opportunity and support.
  • Building a culture of belonging, emotional intelligence and resilience where staff and student’s flourish.
  • Modelling the Oasis ethos every day through the way you lead, behave and build relationships.

This role suits an experienced senior leader, or a highly capable emerging leader with the ambition and potential to progress to principalship in the coming years. You will bring high expectations, emotional maturity, strong strategic instincts and a belief that great leadership can transform an academy from the inside out.
