What skills and experience we're looking for

Qualifications & Training: • Qualified Teacher Status, degree, further relevant professional studies • First degree or equivalent • Appropriate training for Safer Recruitment and Child Protection (in accordance with current legislation)

Attributes: • Personal impact and presence • Excellent Communicator • Intellectual Capacity • Reliability and integrity • Ability to work under pressure

Experience: • Senior Leader in a phase appropriate education • Evidence of impact at whole-school level in improving behaviour, reducing exclusions and improving attendance • Track record of raising standards, linked to pupils' behaviour • Managing budgets • Line management in both curriculum and pastoral teams that led to positive outcomes.

Knowledge and understanding: • Thorough knowledge and understanding of current curriculum developments and how behaviour can support this • Understanding of principles and demonstrable application of school improvement and school effectiveness • Demonstrable ability to plan strategically and to lead, motivate, develop and inspire staff and to manage change • Demonstrable commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive education • Knowledge and understanding of principles and practices of performance management schemes for all staff within a school setting • Ability to analyse and interpret performance data and set challenging but realistic targets • Ability to ensure an ethos and structure for sound discipline which enables all pupils to achieve • Ability to work effectively as part of the school team, with academy committee members, pupils and parents.

Great Yarmouth Charter Academy is a secondary school with a new name and a long history in the borough. We can trace our roots back to 1551 but are forging a new path for secondary education in our great town.

We are part of the Inspiration Trust family of schools in East Anglia, and work particularly closely with our sister schools in the borough.
