Visual Arts Technician job summary
We are seeking to appoint a part-time enthusiastic and reliable Visual Arts Technician to join a successful Visual Arts Faculty.
The successful candidate will support across a busy and diverse faculty, incorporating Art, Textiles, Graphics and 3D Design (wood/metal crafts) plus Food and Nutrition, but primarily will be supporting the Fine Art department.
The vacant position will involve assisting teachers in the preparation of lesson materials, handle stock and data, create learning displays, support student activity in lessons and help maintain a safe and organised working environment for staff and students.
The person appointed as the Art Technician will also be responsible for maintenance of equipment and ensure that the classrooms and storerooms are in good working order. An awareness of the importance of health and safety within a school environment is essential. This position would therefore suit someone with a background in practical arts and craft or teaching or a recent arts graduate looking for a creative post that allows time to pursue their own arts practices alongside, along with the rewards of contributing to the education of young people. The post could also suit a school/art college leaver or student looking to gain Gap Year experience in the Visual arts or in an educational setting. A possible artist studio space within the school could also be discussed for the right candidate.
Hours/days worked can be negotiable to fit within the teaching day to accommodate personal circumstances for the right candidate.
The successful candidates will be energetic, hard-working, creative and adaptable individual with the ability to demonstrate initiative and work co-operatively within a team.
