North Star Academy Trust is a small multi-academy trust that was set up with the ambition to improve the SEND provision in the South West and provide as many young people as possible with a bespoke, specialist education that is tailored to each individual's needs. We are a small but growing Trust, we currently consist of 4 schools including both Primary and Secondary provisions and an alternative provision.

Are you looking for a new challenge? The opportunity to make a difference and enrich the lives of children with behaviour needs? We are looking for a looking for a driven and enthusiastic Tutor to join our team to delivering vocational subjects primarily including BTEC Level 1 Land Based Studies. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to teach some Digital Skills and PE lessons and support in Duke of Edinburgh.

You will be delivering to a small group of learners, but due to challenging needs and behaviours, you will be required to contribute to the management of learner behaviour displaying a high level of professionalism. At all times you will be committed to ensuring high expectations for behaviour and learning and demonstrating professional responsibility to promote the safeguarding and welfare of our learners. The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching vocational subjects.

  • Be able to lead sessions that are well planned and well structured to engage learners in hands-on topics and cover a wide range of abilities.
  • Be flexible, adaptable and have a positive attitude to working in a structured environment.
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues.
  • Have skills of empathy, listening, communication and the ability to respond to unexpressed need.
  • Willingness to undertake the further training that will be offered.
