North Star Academy Trust is a small multi-academy trust that was set up with the ambition to improve the SEND provision in the South West and provide as many young people as possible with a bespoke, specialist education that is tailored to each individual's needs. We are a small but growing Trust, we currently consist of 4 schools including both Primary and Secondary provisions and an alternative provision.

We are looking for a looking for a driven and enthusiastic Tutor to join our team to deliver across a range of vocational subjects through the BTEC Level 1 Introductory in Vocational Studies. In addition the successful candidate will be required to teach functional skills English and Maths along with PSHE.
We are looking for someone with the ability to teach 4 of the core units as well as delivering the construction and vehicle maintenance units. Ideally in the following areas:
• Building a Simple Wall
• Developing Plastering Skills
• Developing Building Maintenance Skills
• Providing a Valeting Service
• Carrying Out Routine Service Tasks on a Motor Vehicle
You will be delivering to a small group of learners, but due to challenging needs and behaviours, you will be required to contribute to the management of learner behaviour displaying a high level of professionalism. At all times you will be committed to ensuring high expectations for behaviour and learning and demonstrating professional responsibility to promote the safeguarding and welfare of our learners. The ideal candidate will have either a trade background or previous experience in teaching vocational subjects.
We believe that every learner should have an equal opportunity to achieve a good education to help them become a good citizen when they leave school. This position can give great satisfaction by often reaching learners who are disengaged with education for a variety of different reasons.
You will be required to work 37 hours per week, term time only, including inset days (39 weeks per annum). Actual salary £30,968-£34,239 per annum.

• Be passionate about the curriculum and able to ensure all children access a broad, structured and personalised entitlement

• Be able to lead sessions that are well planned and well structured to engage learners in hands-on topics and cover a wide range of abilities.
• Be flexible, adaptable and have a positive attitude to working in a structured environment.
• Effectively communicate with colleagues.
• Have skills of empathy, listening, communication and the ability to respond to unexpressed need.
• Willingness to undertake the further training that will be offered.
