Outwood Academy Valley seeks to appoint a colleague to coordinate our bespoke provisions to our wonderful student community. The Bridge is our Social and Pastoral Inclusion Centre within the Academy and the Bridge Coordinator supports and promotes the learning and welfare of vulnerable students and those who experience barriers to learning and we are delighted to be advertising for the position of Bridge Coordinator.

You will join our existing Inclusion team and become a member of the Outwood family. Working as part of the Inclusion team, you will promote the learning and welfare of vulnerable students with a view to achieving full integration back into mainstream school, following a measurable provision delivered by yourself. This is a challenging but rewarding role for the right candidate. You will work closely with the senior leadership team and the Inclusion team to manage the room and provide appropriate and personalised timetables for individual students and groups.

Examples of the work the successful candidate will be expected to deliver are to:

  • Take responsibility for a caseload of students inside and outside of the Bridge during structured or unstructured time.
  • Assess the needs of students and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support students’ pastoral and educational progress and attainment.
  • Deliver intervention programs to individuals and small groups, preparing relevant and appropriate learning experiences in conjunction with the Inclusion lead and department staff.
  • Track and monitor student life skill targets and/or EHCP outcomes, discussing progress with parents and agreeing new targets/EHCP outcomes at Interim Reviews.

We are sure you already have the aspiration to 'transform lives' and this role will allow you to explore the possibilities of delivering alternative courses to cohorts of students to provide them with relevant qualifications. We believe that all teaching and support staff posts within our Family of Schools are key posts in terms of supporting student success and achievement across a broad range of subjects and experiences. As such we are keen to recruit dedicated and ambitious professionals who will add value to our Academy in both academic terms and through involvement in the fabric of learning and success beyond the classroom.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss the role please contact Jo Perry, Vice Principal atj.perry@valley.outwood.com
