Job Advert Welfare Assistant - FLW
The Governors of St. Clare’s Catholic Primary School wish to appoint a Welfare Assistant to join our school and make an outstanding contribution to our lunchtime staff team.
This post is permanent and is subject to a probationary period.
The hours are 1.66 hours per day, 1 hour and 40 mins as follows:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 11.50am to 1.30 pm.
The post is term time only (38 weeks).
We are looking for someone who is reliable, enthusiastic, flexible, responsible and caring, with a desire to make the pupils’ lunchtime a happy, safe and fun time.
The main duties of the post are:
- to supervise children in the hall eating their lunch, with vigilance around safety and pupil wellbeing in respect of dietary requirements, food allergies and choking risk;
- to clear up any spillages with due regard to your own and others’ health and safety;
- to actively supervise children outside in the playground, ensuring all children are well cared for and included in play by initiating or supporting structured play activities;
- to establish supportive relationships and promote kindness between pupils, with adherence to the school’s behaviour policy;
- to attend to any first aid needs and record using the school’s system;
- to supervise the tidy and safe storage of play equipment;
- to liaise with teachers and key staff, passing on any important information;
- during wet lunchtimes, to supervise the children in their classrooms.

St Clare’s is a thriving, vibrant one-form entry Catholic Primary School with a strong sense of community. It is a founding member of the Mater Ecclesiae Catholic Multi Academy Trust in the Lancaster Diocese.
