Welfare Assistant job summary
Job Title: Welfare Assistant
Salary Grade: SCP 2 NJC Payscale
Actual Salary: £4173 per annum
Working Pattern: Term Time Only
Contract: Permanent
Start Date: ASAP
We are looking for an excellent welfare assistant:
To ensure that pupils wash and dry their hands before taking a meal
To ensure orderly conduct, queuing and controlled dispersal of pupils in the dining room
To provide social training for pupils, for example, table manners and the correct use of cutlery
To clear up spillages on tables and the floor or the dining room where a pupil has been sick or spilt his/her meal
To assist in taking food to the tables if so required
To assist younger pupils in cutting up food
To ensure that crockery, beakers, cutlery and trays are taken to the returns area
To assist in the scraping of plates
To establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs.
To promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
To encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities
To provide regular feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievement, progress and problems.
To promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
To prevent pupils from taking any action that might result in injury to themselves or other pupils
To ensure that pupils make proper use of toilets and cloakrooms
To ensure that pupils do not leave the school grounds without approval
Be aware of emergency procedures eg. fire drill / lockdown and know what action to take.
Supervise children in designated areas other than the playground during bad weather.
Report all accidents and incidents to the designated member of staff as required by the school.
To be a positive role model at all times.
