Welfare Officer job summary

An exciting new opportunity has arisen at Mandeville Primary School for a Welfare Officer leading on Attendance and Family Support

We are looking for an enthusiastic, well organised and skilled person with excellent communication, administration and interpersonal skills. The role will have specific responsibility for maintaining, monitoring and supporting attendance to identify areas of concern. You will also work closely with the Head Teacher and professionals to support our vulnerable children and families.

As our Welfare Officer no two days are ever the same and you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of our children and their families. We are seeking to appoint a professional individual to be responsible for the care and welfare to all our children. Successful applicants should have lots of enthusiasm, energy & commitment!

The post is 16 hours per week in the summer term whilst working closely with the current attendance officer.

This will then increase to 33 hours per week from September 2025 over 5 days, 8.30 to 4.30 Monday to Thursday and 8.30 to 1.30 on a Friday.

The weeks worked are term time plus 5 inset (staff training) days.

We are keen to find a new member of staff who is as committed and ambitious as we are. You will have GCSEs in English and Maths at grade C or above.
