Hours: (7.30-8.30am Tuesday to Friday and 3-5.30pm Monday and Tuesday)
Responsible to: Headteacher

We have a wonderful opportunity for a Wraparound Care Assistant to join our dedicated and supportive team, based at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, part of the Dustan Catholic Educational Trust. This is a permanent role.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Supervising Children - Ensure the safety and well-being of all children during breakfast and after-school club hours. Supervise children during activities, ensuring they follow rules and behave appropriately.

Support Activities - Facilitate age-appropriate activities, including crafts, games, and outdoor play. Create a fun, engaging, and safe environment where children can interact and socialise.

Providing Breakfast/After-School snacks and meals – Support the serving of breakfast and after-school snacks. Assist children with serving themselves, if necessary, and encourage healthy eating habits.

Communication with Parents - Greet parents when they drop off or pick up their children, maintaining open communication. Inform parents of any incidents or concerns regarding their child’s behavior or well-being.

Managing Behaviour - Maintain discipline within the club, ensuring children follow the rules and guidelines. Use positive reinforcement strategies to encourage good behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy. Address any conflicts or issues between children promptly and appropriately. Communicate with class teachers to share behaviour concerns.

Supporting Children’s Individual Needs - Identify and support children with additional support requirements. Adapt activities to ensure all children are able to participate and enjoy themselves.

Health and Safety - Ensure that the environment is clean, safe, and well-maintained. Follow all health and safety protocols, including safeguarding, accident reporting, and emergency procedures. Monitor children for any signs of illness or injury, reporting issues promptly to the school’s designated staff.

Administering First Aid - Provide first aid to children as needed, ensuring any injuries are addressed promptly. Keep first-aid supplies stocked and readily available.

Maintaining Resources and Equipment - Organise and tidy up the club space after each session.

Promoting Positive Relationships - Encourage positive interactions and friendships between children. Foster a welcoming environment that supports social development and emotional well-being.

Continuous Improvement - Stay informed about best practices in child care and early years education. Participate in relevant training and development opportunities to improve skills and knowledge.
