Lothersdale Primary School is a happy, vibrant place where learning is at the heart of everything we do. The dedicated and supportive staff team immerse pupils in a strong learning culture: encouraging independence, resilience and teamwork within a supportive, nurturing and inclusive atmosphere.

At Lothersdale Primary School we recognise that children have individual needs and high quality AFL (Assessment for Learning) is used to personalise learning for all groups of learners, maximising their rates of progress, and ensuring every child achieves their full potential.

Pupils are provided with a meaningful, inspiring and interesting knowledge-rich curriculum that is enhanced by visits, visitors and many cross-curricular links. In addition the school offers afterschool activities which provide pupils with the opportunity to enjoy and try a wide range of extra-curricular experiences.

Lothersdale Primary School has a track record of consistently reaching very high results. Our achievements have been recognised by Ofsted in January 2006, October 2008 and, most recently, July 2014 when we have been judged ‘Outstanding’ in all areas, with no significant areas for improvement. A copy of the OFSTED reports can be downloaded from the School Performance Information section of this website.

Over the last five years the school has achieved the prestigious Green Flag Status for our work towards sustainability and in 2019 we achieved the Sainsbury’s School Games’ Gold Kitemark for the fifth consecutive year, which recognised the high level of physical activity that the school provides. The school has continually maintained Fairtrade Status and in 2017 was one of the first schools in the country to achieve the Woodland Trust Gold Award. Most recently, in 2018 the school was awarded the Heritage Schools Award which recognises the school’s work on local history.
