What skills and experience we're looking for

Walter Halls Primary School is a brilliantly diverse two-form Primary and Nursery school serving the communities of St Anns and Mapperley. We are currently looking for a Year 4 teacher from September 2025, working every Thursday and Friday as part of a job-share. This role would suit an experienced KS2 teacher who has worked in an inner-city setting and someone who is passionate about breaking through the barriers that some of our children face with their education. This post is initially temporary for a year, with the possibility of becoming permanent, or with increased hours, the following academic year. We are a two-form entry mainstream school with 60 amazing children in each year group – you will therefore work as part of a large team of professionals who are warm, friendly and eager to support one another in a family and community-minded setting.

You will be someone who:

  • Has a passion for working in inner-city schools and a strong belief that all children can achieve with the right adults around them.
  • Has the knowledge, skills and experience to take on Key Stage 2 planning, teaching and assessment, setting high standards and expectations for all learners.
  • Has the ability to work as a part of a large team of professionals, sharing ideas and good practice, working collaboratively.
  • Has high standards of communication and interpersonal skills and is used to working with a range of stakeholders such as parents, families and other professionals.
  • Has the innovation and ability to motivate and inspire our children with a love of learning.
  • Is excellent at forming positive relationships with all children and demonstrates exceptional values of inclusion within your classroom.
  • Is driven to make a difference and contribute more widely to whole school improvement.

What the school offers its staff

What we can offer you:

  • A large site with stunning outdoor grounds to utilise during all learning opportunities.
  • A hard-working and committed team who are passionate, energetic and welcoming.
  • A wider school community who genuinely care for and contribute to the school and who welcome new people to become a meaningful part of our Walter Halls Family.
  • An opportunity to work alongside some excellent practitioners and a friendly leadership team; we are committed to offering the very best to our children and we place exceptionally high value on: positive behaviour strategies, inclusion and diversity, early years pedagogy with practical learning approaches and a commitment to a broad and balanced curriculum offer.
  • We are not an academy and remain to be a local authority Nottingham City School. We have excellent links with Nottingham Schools Trust offering high-quality CPD and networking opportunities.
  • Amazing children who show positive behaviour, curiosity and resilience – and who make us smile every day!
