What skills and experience we're looking for

King Edwin Primary School is a vibrant, friendly and welcoming learning community where we believe if you’re ready to try, you’re ready to fly. We are a growing, dedicated team who strive for the best outcomes for all of our pupils. In September 2024, as part of the reorganisation of schools in the Coquet Partnership, Amble First School became King Edwin Primary School and relocated to a newly refurbished site in Amble. Our first Y6 cohort will stay with us from September 2025.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Year 6 teacher who can help us to develop and lead our Upper Key Stage 2 provision. You will also lead on assessment across the school. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successful and recent teaching in KS2 and have the ability to support the development of our Upper Key Stage 2 curriculum. The post will also involve the co-ordination of at least one curriculum subject. Candidates with a particular interest in Mathematics are encouraged to apply.

Are you:

  • A talented, experienced Key Stage 2 teacher with high expectations of yourself and of the children in our school?
  • Committed to teamwork, with the ability to develop excellent relationships with pupils, staff, parents, key stakeholders and other professionals?
  • Able to make learning fun and engaging whilst meeting the needs of the children in your class?
  • Enthusiastic, caring, skilled and reflective?
  • Committed to developing your own skills and knowledge, seeking opportunities to develop your own practice?
  • Able to look for solutions rather than problems?

What the school offers its staff

We can offer you:

  • A positive ethos that celebrates success and values teamwork.
  • Enthusiastic children who enjoy being in school and who love learning.
  • Supportive, friendly and hard-working colleagues who care passionately about our school.
  • The chance to teach in a climate of trust and respect.
  • A strong commitment to your continued professional development.

Flexible working opportunities
