Head of Year job summary

We are seeking an experienced teacher to be appointed to the pastoral team as a Year Coordinator. Candidates should have the presence, experience, and vision to help further develop the pastoral systems in the school. A good knowledge of current issues and pastoral and educational developments will be required.

The successful applicant will be highly organised and a passionate teacher with the ability to lead by example. All subject specialisms will be considered, although we currently have a need for subject teaching hours in English, Modern Foreign Languages, and Mathematics. Candidates must be driven, proactive and committed to the success of the Year Group, with the progress and wellbeing of pupils at the heart of this. They will need to be leaders as well as managers be able to delegate, co-ordinate and lead by example.

The successful applicant will be expected to help ensure that students at Faringdon Community College succeed academically and socially.

Take responsibility for all students in the year group in terms of behaviour, academic progress, pastoral care, and wellbeing.

Lead and manage a team of tutors.

Nurture the personal development of the year group.

The role will also involve driving the implementation of whole school policies within the Year Group to uphold standards of learning and behaviour, such as assessment, homework, uniform and ‘Behaviour for Learning’.
