What skills and experience we're looking for

The Year Leader role is a key leadership position within our pastoral team, responsible for ensuring the high achievement, welfare and personal development of students in a designated year group. This is a rewarding role for a highly motivated and passionate individual who wants to make a significant impact on students' lives.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have the ability to teach Maths, Science or PE as this would complement our curriculum and contribute to the wider success of our school.

As Year Leader, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership for your designated year group, ensuring students develop academically and personally.
  • Oversee and implement pastoral initiatives that support student welfare, behaviour, attendance and engagement.
  • Work closely with staff, students and parents to create a culture of high expectations and achievement.
  • Monitor student progress and implement interventions to support those who need additional guidance.
  • Lead and manage an Assistant Year Leader and tutor team, ensuring high-quality provision during tutor time.
  • Collaborate with Curriculum Leaders to support student progress across all subjects.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through enrichment activities and whole-school initiatives.

What the school offers its staff

  • A comprehensive induction programme for new staff to the academy.
  • On-going investment into your career development through appropriate CPD.
  • Support and mentoring by a strong Senior Leadership Team and other experienced leaders.
  • Access to the Bike 2 Work scheme allowing up to 42% discount on the cost of bikes and equipment.
  • Full use of an employee assistance programme supporting wellbeing.
  • Free breakfast of bagel/cereal/porridge/tea.
  • Staffroom with complimentary tea and coffee.
  • Subsidised membership of Benenden Healthcare (affordable alternative to private health insurance).
  • On-site parking.
  • Free Breakfast Club/After School Club place for staff children at Ocklynge Junior School.
  • Enviable setting and extensive grounds.
