1:1 Child Specific (KS2) Teaching & Learning Support Assistant (Fixed Term) job summary

Dorridge Primary School, a large three form entry, community Primary school, would like to appoint a Teaching and Learning Support Assistant to join their SEND team.

We are seeking a calm, compassionate and resilient 1:1 Teaching & Learning Support Assistant to work with a KS2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting a pupil to access learning, regulate emotions, build confidence and develop positive relationships, working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team.

Contract Type: Fixed Term (this role is attached to a specific child and will end when the child leaves the school)

Hours of Work: 10 hours per week, across Monday - Friday, 1:30pm - 3:30pm

Main duties and responsibilities (a full Job Description and Person Specification are available):

  • To supervise the activities of the child inside and outside the classroom
  • To provide care, attend to the child’s personal needs and undertake activities necessary to meet the physical, emotional and educational requirements of individual child. This will require knowledge of a range of strategies and a high level of skills developed through experience, with regular supervision from teaching staff as and when required
  • To liaise with other professionals to support the needs of the child
  • To work closely with teachers, as part of the Year Group team, to plan appropriately differentiated activities for the child.
