SEN Learning Support Assistant to support within Captains Nest
Captains Close Primary School
Salary: Grade 5 Pay Point 7-8 (Aprox starting salary of £17,636.70 )
Hours: 31.25 per week and 39 weeks per year ( 38 weeks Term Time, plus one week including INSET days)
Contract Type: Fixed Term 18 August 2025
Working Pattern: Monday - Friday 08:30-15:15,with an unpaid lunch break
About the Role
Captains Close Primary School have an exciting opportunity for a SEN Learning Support Assistant. This is a varied role and we are looking for an adaptable, flexible and resourceful individual.
We are looking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and highly motivated SEN Learning Support Assistant to support with 1:1 and group interventions. We are looking for someone who is committed to improving outcomes for all of our children, along with a passion for providing inspirational learning experiences. Key Responsibilities
- To work under the supervision of a teacher to provide care and encouragement to children and young people with disabilities or special educational needs, supporting them to participate in activities and liaising, if required, with parents / carers / other professionals as appropriate.
- To work under the direct supervision of a teacher to carry out planned learning activities to meet the specific needs of designated children, either individually or in small groups, providing feedback on their engagement in activities and their achievement of the desired learning objectives.
- To support the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of pupils, including contributing ideas and suggestions to support planning, to meet their development needs.
- To observe and feed back to the teacher on pupil performance and behaviour, taking action as appropriate in line with relevant school policies.
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications:
- NVQ 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent OR Able to demonstrate the ability to meet the STL Level 2 National Occupational Standards relevant to this post.
- Level 2 qualifications in maths/numeracy and English/literacy
Experience:
- Experience of supporting teaching and learning in a formal setting
Skills & Knowledge:
- Knowledge of child protection and health and safety procedures.
- Ability and willingness to undertake professional development.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Empathy with children and young people.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
