1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant job summary

Freeland CE Primary School wishes to appoint a 1:1 SEND teaching assistant to start as soon as possible. We need someone for 30 hours per week to work with 2 children with complex needs who currently are in nursery and reception.

We are looking for someone with a passion for working with young children with complex needs to join our dedicated team of staff. You will work alongside an experienced teaching team to provide tailored learning support, help with social and emotional development, and ensure a safe and engaging learning environment. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on a child's educational journey

We are a small rural village primary school with 139 pupils on roll from 2-11 years old who are well behaved and engaged in their learning.

✔ Experience working with children with complex SEND needs
✔ A good understanding of inclusion, child development, and mental health needs
✔ Strong communication skills to work effectively with parents, staff, and external professionals
✔ A flexible, patient, and creative approach to support a pre-verbal child in developing communication strategies
✔ The ability to provide structure, routine, and reassurance to help the child thrive
✔ A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children

Prior experience of working with children with complex needs is essential.
