1:1 Teaching Assistant job summary

1:1 Teaching Assistant - Bayside Academy, Poole

Monday - Friday, 12pm - 3.30pm (17.5 hours per week) Term-time only + INSET.

Fixed term until 31st August 2026.

AE Grade 4 SCP 6-9

The candidate will be an experienced practitioner, working with a named child with an EHCP. You will have emotional resilience and a flexible approach to working. You will have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs, have excellent communication skills and work in partnership with staff and parents.

You will:

  • Provide consistent support throughout the school day, including during lessons, playtimes and transitions

  • Deliver personalised learning activities in collaboration with the class teacher, SENDCo and other professionals

  • Support learning through play-based activities and the child's interests to promote engagement and motivation

  • Use appropriate communication strategies and resources

  • Support the child's physical needs, including mobility and personal care in line with care plans

  • Monitor the child's medical needs, including epilepsy

  • Encourage independence and self -help skills

  • Communicate effectively with parents
