What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking an experienced EYFS Assistant to support our EYFS setting. You will work closely with the classroom teacher, providing directed support and supervision to one specific child with Special Educational Needs. Your duties may also include supporting the class as a whole.

The aim of your support and guidance will be to enable that child to access the curriculum and to facilitate full inclusion into school life, supporting them to learn as independently as possible and to develop to their full potential.

You will be expected to use considerable initiative and contribute to planning over the short and medium term. The work will involve responding independently to unexpected problems and situations, exercising good professional judgement. You will also be required to provide self-care needs.

You will aid the student to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and on their own, establish supportive relationships with the student concerned, promote the acceptance and inclusion of students with SEN, encouraging students to interact with each other in an appropriate and acceptable manner and monitor the students’ responses to the learning activities and, where appropriate, modify or adapt the activities as agreed with the teacher to achieve the intended learning outcomes.

You will be able to form and maintain appropriate professional relationships with students and adults working in the school. You will enjoy the challenge of contributing positively to the work, ethos and values of the school and be willing to go above and beyond in this important role.

Experience of supporting children with social and communication needs and working in an EYFS setting would be advantageous.

What the school offers its staff

Since becoming an academy in September 2009, Kettering Buccleuch Academy has seen many exciting changes. We are an all-through academy catering for students aged 4-18. We moved into our new, purpose-built building in January 2013. The academy continues to go from strength to strength, with happy and motivated staff, a supportive culture and plenty of opportunities for personal growth with our excellent staff CPD offer. We offer a range of benefits including our wellbeing and workload manifesto, Perkbox, covering lifestyle and retail benefits including childcare vouchers, a car lease scheme, cycle to work etc., subsidised meals and an on-site gym which is free for all staff to use.

We welcome visits to our school so that you can experience the unique ethos of Kettering Buccleuch Academy for yourself.

We are part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

United Learning is a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

United Learning schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. The subject specialists, Group-wide intranet, own curriculum, and online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.

We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation – which is key to our commitment to bringing out the best in everyone. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit, and we are open to discussing flexible working options.

United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All positions are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online check.

Here at United Learning, we are committed to ensuring our employees feel valued and appreciated. Because we are a group, we can reward you better than any school could alone, and this includes your employee benefits. Here is some information about the benefits available to United Learning.

Commitment to safeguarding

Kettering Buccleuch Academy is committed to equal opportunities and to the protection and safety of all students and adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share these commitments.

Each post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
