1:1 Teaching Assistant - linked to funding job summary

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic One‑to‑One Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team at Charing Church of England Primary School. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference by providing dedicated, individual support to a pupil, helping them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

As a One‑to‑One Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and other professionals to support the learning, wellbeing, and development of an individual pupil, including those with additional needs. You will play a key role in helping the pupil access the curriculum, develop independence, and engage positively in school life.

This post is for 30hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time plus one week (39 weeks).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated one‑to‑one support for a named pupil under the direction of the class teacher and SENCo
  • Support the pupil’s access to learning and participation in classroom activities
  • Implement personalised strategies and interventions to meet the pupil’s individual learning, behavioural, emotional, or medical needs
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of adapted learning activities
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social interaction
  • Support the pupil during transitions, break times, and school activities
  • Help maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor and record progress, contributing to assessments and review meetings as required
  • Work closely with teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies to provide consistent support

  • Able to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
  • Confident in following individual support plans and behaviour strategies
  • Observant, proactive, and responsive to a pupil’s needs
  • A clear and effective communicator with good interpersonal skills
