1:1 Teaching Assistant job summary

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to help the child engage with their learning and thrive within the classroom environment. You’ll work closely with the class teacher and other staff to implement strategies that foster the child’s confidence, independence, and academic progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the child in accessing the curriculum and achieving learning goals.
  • Assist with personalised learning plans and activities.
  • Build a positive and trusting relationship with the child.
  • Communicate regularly with teaching staff, parents, and specialists as needed.
  • Encourage social interaction and engagement in class activities.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic.
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can work collaboratively with the wider school team.
  • Is flexible and adaptable to the needs of the child and the classroom.
  • Ideally has experience supporting children in a school setting, though training will be provided.

Working Hours

  • 8.30-15.30, 5 days per week, term time only
  • 39 weeks per year including INSET days
