1:1 Teaching Assistant job summary

St Michael's C.E. Primary School is a welcoming and nurturing Church of England school where every child is encouraged to flourish academically, socially and spiritually. We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for two pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning, develop independence and achieve their full potential within a supportive and inclusive school environment.

Working under the direction of the class teacher and SENDCo, you will:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one support for two named pupils with EHCPs.
  • Help pupils access the curriculum through personalised strategies and targeted interventions.
  • Support pupils' communication, social, emotional and behavioural development.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents/carers and external professionals to ensure the pupils' needs are effectively met.
  • Contribute to a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • We are looking for someone who

  • Has experience of working with primary-aged children, ideally including children with additional needs.
  • Is patient, caring and able to build positive, trusting relationships with children.
  • Has an understanding of supporting pupils with SEND and is willing to develop their knowledge through training.
  • Is adaptable, resilient and able to respond positively to individual needs.
  • Has excellent communication skills and enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Will support and uphold the Christian vision and values of St Michael's C.E. Primary School.
