1-1 Teaching Assistant (Year 2) job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and patient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The role involves using Makaton for communication and may include personal care and hygiene tasks. Experience with special educational needs and Makaton is advantageous.
This is a part-time temporary appointment for 1 year, 28.75 hours a week, (8:45 - 3:15), term time only (38 weeks and 2 days per year).
Whilst you will be expected to work under the direction of the class teacher you will also have the ability to use your own initiative to organise tasks and activities; creating simple resources to support the pupil’s work as appropriate. You will work closely with the class teacher and the School’s SEN support
We are looking for a person who is:
- calm, kind and patient
- experienced in communicating with young pupils and those with learning difficulties
- knowledge in Makaton would be advantageous
- cheerful, positive and enthusiastic about working with children
- educated to a good standard with GCSEs in English and Maths (grade C or above) or equivalent
- possessing excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- a good team player
