What skills and experience we're looking for

The Geography department is a strong, well respected and supportive department. It is forward thinking and consistently striving for excellence and has a history of good examination results. The department is collaborative; planning is shared at KS3 and KS4 and resources are photocopied centrally. The department has an excellent KS3 curriculum that supports students to develop their skills from KS2 and prepares students for study at GCSE. The Geography Department is also committed to offering opportunities for students in all key stages to learn in the field, and some of the trips that we offer include Lulworth Cove, Worthing and Lancing, Brighton and Birmingham. We have also run residential KS5 trips to Barcelona and we run a trip to Iceland for students in Years 10 to 13. This is an exciting time to help lead the Geography department as we continue to review the impact of our KS3 curriculum and begin to review and implement changes to our KS4 curriculum. Staff in the department are dedicated and enthusiastic and there is a strong commitment to staff development.

Our students follow an academic core curriculum throughout Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. This includes the study of History, Geography and a Language as well as English, Maths and Science. But our students also have the opportunity to do a range of practical and vocational subjects including a wide range of creative and performing arts, physical education and other humanities like Business studies, Psychology and Economics.

Outside the formal curriculum we offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities and clubs. Our students are also very active in the community working alongside local and overseas charities to raise money for good causes.
