The roles
We are excited to be recruiting two SEND Teaching Assistants to provide flexible, responsive support for a number of learners with additional needs across the school. 30 hours/week (term time), starting 8th September 2025 on a 1 year fixed term contract initially and subject to ongoing funding being received.

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you play a crucial role in aiding students on their educational journey. Cultivating various strategies to meet each student's unique needs is essential. Collaboration with teachers, therapists, and families to develop comprehensive support plans is vital.

We are looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant - to assist in the educational, personal, and social development of a child under the direction and guidance of relevant colleagues (e.g. the Headteacher, SENCo and Class Teacher). Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children with SEN on 1:1 basis or in class

  • Preferred training or experience in Makaton

  • Be passionate about working with SEN children on a 1:1 basis

  • Be flexible, proactive and patient

  • Be able to communicate effectively within a team

  • Work well as part of a caring team, under the direction of a Class Teacher.

  • Recognise the varying needs of individual learners and adjust tasks accordingly.

  • Contribute to our Church of England ethos.

  • Secure high quality relationships with parents, carers and the wider community.

  • Bring creativity and enthusiasm to each and every new day.

The role would be term time, Monday to Friday, totaling 30 hours a week. This is a fixed term contract until 31st August 2026 subject to ongoing funding being received.

St Barnabas Multi Academy Trust is made up of a group of 13 schools, of which St Martin's CE Primary School is one, who work closely together in order to ensure they provide the best education for pupils in the Liskeard Area.
