Pilgrim Primary Academy, Reach South Academy Trust, is seeking to appoint two Breakfast Club Assistants and two After School Club Assistants

Location: Pilgrim Primary Academy,Oxford Street, Plymouth PL1 5BQ

Salary Range: Grade A, £23,656, pro-rata, per annum

Hours/Contract: Post One: Breakfast Club: 5 hours per week 8am-9am

(Actual Salary (£2,844) per annum

Mon-Fri, term-time only 39 weeks per year

Post Two: Afterschool Club: 13.33 hours per week 3.20pm-6.00pm

(Actual Salary £7,584) per annum

Mon-Fri, term-time only 39 weeks per year

The Role:

We are looking for enthusiastic and responsible persons to work in our Breakfast Club and Pirates After School Club provision. The clubs, host up to 30 children daily of ages from 4 - 11 years and runs before and after school hours from 8am-9am (Breakfast Club) and 3.20pm - 6.00pm (Afterschool Club). The clubs run every day when school is open to children (equivalent to 38 weeks of the year - in term time only).

Specifically, the role involves:

Providing children with a range of activities at the end of the school day including crafts, group games, construction, active play (using the school grounds - weather permitting), quiet activities and overseeing homework activity

Setting up the environment daily (from 3.00 pm)

Oversee the additional support staff in the environment

Preparation of snacks and drinks (Food Hygiene Certificate required - training can be provided)

Monitoring food stock levels and liaising with the Office Manager to prepare stock orders

Communication with parents and carers at pick up times (face to face or via telephone)

Providing First Aid (Paediatric First Aid certification required - training can be provided)

The Person:

We are looking for an organised, energetic and caring Leader for our Pirates Club. You will:

Be committed to providing high quality care for all children and meeting the needs of each child in your care

Plan and implement the delivery of a varied programme of games, crafts, activities and homework supervision

Be able to lead other staff effectively and positively

Have a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding, rigorous safeguarding practices and a commitment to maintaining up to date safeguarding knowledge through additional training

Hold a NVQ level 3 in Playwork/Childcare or similar (e.g.NCFE CACHE Level 3 Playworker) and have experience of working with children aged 4-11yrs.

Hold Food Hygiene Certificate Understand and practice requirements for food hygiene and dietary and allergy restrictions (Food Hygiene Certificate required)

Be trained in Paediatric First Aid and hold current certification (or willingness to undertake necessary training)

Be an excellent communicator and uphold the professional standards expected of all staff as outlined in Academy and Trust Policies.
