Qualifications

• Good quality Honours degree (essential)
• PGCE, or equivalent, in Secondary Education (essential)
• Qualified Teacher Status (essential)

Experience

• Proven success in teaching KS3 and GCSE English (essential)
• Experience of teaching/leading curriculum development outside subject area (desirable)
• Experience of teaching A Level English (desirable)

Skills/Qualities Attributes and knowledge

• Up to date knowledge of the English National Curriculum (essential)
• A proven ability to consistently teach excellent lessons (essential)
• Good and imaginative use of resources including new technologies (essential)
• Excellent understanding of Assessment for Learning and the ability to put this into practice (essential)

• Knowledge and understanding of current curriculum developments in English (essential)

• Ability to monitor the quality of teaching and learning across a Key Stage and to support colleagues as required (essential)
• An ability to analyse and interpret data accurately in order to monitor pupil progress (essential)
• Knowledge of intervention strategies that can be used effectively to address underperformance (desirable)
