What skills and experience we're looking for
Qualifications
- Good quality Honours degree (essential)
- PGCE, or equivalent, in Secondary Education (essential)
- Qualified Teacher Status (essential)
Experience
- Proven success in teaching KS3 and GCSE English (essential)
- Experience of teaching/leading curriculum development outside subject area (desirable)
- Experience of teaching A Level English (desirable)
Skills/Qualities Attributes and knowledge
- Up to date knowledge of the English National Curriculum (essential)
- A proven ability to consistently teach excellent lessons (essential)
- Good and imaginative use of resources including new technologies (essential)
- Excellent understanding of Assessment for Learning and the ability to put this into practice (essential)
- Well-developed behaviour for learning skills (essential)
- Efficient organisational skills (essential)
- Knowledge and understanding of current curriculum developments in English (essential)
- An understanding of the qualities of a good Scheme of Learning (essential)
- Ensure that whole school policies are implemented consistently across English (essential)
- Experience of leading a Key Stage or relevant TLR (essential)
- Ability to monitor the quality of teaching and learning across a Key Stage and to support colleagues as required (essential)
- An ability to analyse and interpret data accurately in order to monitor pupil progress (essential)
- Knowledge of intervention strategies that can be used effectively to address underperformance (desirable)
