About the Role

The role of Second in English will support the leadership of the department by helping to shape the curriculum, drive high‑quality teaching, and raise standards across all key stages. You will work closely with the Head of English to model excellent practice, mentor colleagues, and ensure that lessons are engaging, inclusive, and ambitious. Through contributing to strategic planning, monitoring progress, and supporting whole‑school literacy, you will play a key role in inspiring students to develop strong communication skills and a love of English.

 

Key priorities for the role include:

·        Teaching across all Key Stages; Key Stage 5 experience desirable

·        Supporting the ongoing development and reshaping of departmental resources

·        Analysing student progress data and contributing to strategies that support student achievement

·        Supporting the planning, implementation and dissemination of assessment and intervention strategies to support student progress

·        Working closely with the Head of Department to support curriculum development and teaching and learning across the department

 

About the Department

You will be joining an ambitious and experienced team of English teachers with a wide range of strengths and expertise, supported by a strong culture of collaboration, mentoring and professional growth. The department has a proven track record of developing trainee teachers and early career teachers, and offers opportunities for subject crossover through links with Film and Media.
